William W. Vaughan, affectionately known as "Billy," made his final journey on February 2, 2025, in the serene comfort of his home in Lake Cormorant, Mississippi. Born on April 23, 1938, in Cleveland, Mississippi, he lived a life marked by a deep commitment to family and a tireless work ethic that shaped his existence.
In his dedicated youth, Billy served with honor in the United States Coast Guard for four years, where he met his wife of 55 years, Marie Vaughan. Together they shared life’s simple joys before she preceded him in death. He poured his energy into every endeavor, whether it was fixing a truck as a mechanic, raising cows, or cultivating a thriving vegetable farm after retirement. His love for his craft was evident; he was a driven man, committed to serving those in need while fostering a profound sense of community.
Billy cherished the moments spent with his family. Memories were crafted on camping trips and leisurely afternoons spent sipping coffee on the Gator, where laughter and stories flowed freely. The back porch, with its view of the day’s unfolding, became a refuge for him, as he would often immerse himself in the world of Facebook, sharing bits of life with friends and family alike. Each ride he took with his grand and great-grandchildren brought him immense joy, leaving a legacy of cherished memories in their hearts.
A beloved spouse, Carol Vaughan, remains; he leaves behind children George Vaughan, Helen (Steven) Cianciolo, Sherry Hammond, and step-son George "Clif" (Lauren) Vance. His grandchildren, Amanda (Jake) Pruett, Stephanie (Brandon) Self, Steven Cianciolo, Jr., Zachery Hammond, Zoe Vance, and Lela Vance, were the light of his life, with the younger generations, Kohen Pruett and Waylon Self, filling his heart with pride. Surrounded by a host of siblings—including Norma Caldwell, Jerry (Becky) Vaughan, David (Dale) Vaughan, Patricia Ann (James) Ingram, and Brenda (John) Davis—and countless nieces and nephews who adored him, Billy's family's love encircled him in warmth.
Billy’s final days were spent enveloped in the love he nurtured throughout his life, and he departed peacefully, with answered prayers—a testament to a life well-lived. He ran his race valiantly and won, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, commitment, and an enduring bond with his loved ones.
He is now reunited with his first wife Marie, his parents Norman Vaughan and Marie McCool Vaughan, and his siblings Virginia Sue Vaughan, Mary Jane Bullock, and Thomas Vaughan, as well as his cherished child, Linda Marie Vaughan.
