Weida E. Ringley, affectionately known as "Ma Weida," was born on December 12, 1932, in Memphis, TN. She left this world on February 14, 2025, after a sudden illness, but her spirit and legacy will forever resonate within the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Weida dedicated over 50 years to teaching in Memphis, Desoto, and Shelby counties, becoming a beacon of knowledge and inspiration for countless students. As a lifelong advocate for 4-H, she passionately coached the 4-H forestry team to national victory while also leaving her mark in the world of sports, having played basketball in the Olympics and contributing to the evolution of female basketball. Her experience also included coaching basketball and track, nurturing the talents of young athletes and instilling in them the values of hard work and dedication.

An enthusiastic educator, Weida held both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Memphis State, where her commitment to learning and growth shone brightly. Her love for animals and the outdoors complemented her teaching style, making her a consummate educator and a nurturing force in the lives of all children she encountered. She cherished her family deeply and devoted herself to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many lives she touched throughout her career.

Weida's achievements were numerous and included receiving a Presidential award for teaching and a Governor's distinguished award for her contributions to 4-H. She was immensely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, celebrating each milestone with uncontainable joy. Among her proudest accomplishments were the lasting familial bonds she created and the numerous teams she guided to Nationals and Regionals.

In her later years, Weida found comfort and peace in her spiritual journey, recently coming to know Jesus. It was a source of solace that added a new depth to her loving nature, strength, and independent spirit.

She is survived by her loving children, Kit (Lisa) Carson, Jr., Steve Carson, and Jeannie (David) Hatcher. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Anthony (Megan) Moretta, Wesley (Maranda) Carson, Jonathan (Patti) Hatcher, Christopher (Hollie) Hatcher, Michelle (Caleb) Crowder, Hannah (John) Pannell, Ashley (Michael) Fizzell, Cameron Carson, and David (Briana) Willis. She took immense pride in her great-grandchildren: Phenley Carson, Melissa Carson, Vincenzo Moretta, Guiliana Moretta, Emilia Moretta, Lenon Crowder, Carson Crowder, Bennett Fizzell, Peyton Pannell, Tucker Pannell, Shepard Hatcher, Aliana Hatcher, Mason Carson, Sophia Carson, and Stella and Austin Willis.

Weida is predeceased by her parents, James and Ethel Entrikin, and her beloved husband, Casper Ringley. She also leaves behind her cherished sister, Johnnie Ray Entrikin, along with a wide network of family, friends, and her devoted 4-H community.

A visitation to honor Weida will be held on February 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Olive Branch, MS. A graveside service will follow, concluding at 12:30 PM.

Ma Weida’s legacy of love, advocacy, and education will carry on as a testament to the remarkable life she led and the countless lives she touched. Her memory will continue to inspire resilience, kindness, and a deeply rooted appreciation for family and community.
