Mrs. Wanda ‘Jean’ South, 88 of Cordova, TN passed away Saturday, August 18

, 2018 in her home surrounded by her loved ones. A native of Memphis, TN she had lived in New Albany, MS for 20+ years. Under the care of her eldest daughter, she had lived in Cordova for the past 3 years. She was born December 28
th
, 1929 to Margaret Mae Victoria Birdsong and William Voorhees. She was an accountant for 17 years who was very skilled at math. She was also a dynamic housewife and mother. She instilled in her children the value of attending church and living by God’s word. She was a very caring, giving human being who would volunteer to help in any way she could, of service to others. She was an avid bowler and a bunco player for 15 years. She also loved Scrabble and Dominoes. One of her greatest loves was gardening and she had no doubt been blessed with a green thumb. She was the heart and center of all as it is the fond memories that were made around her whilecelebrating the holidays together as a family.
She leaves behind four children, Sandra Hood of Cordova, TN, Priscilla Duncan of Bartlett, TN, Melinda Shaeffer of Bartlett, TN, David South of Tupelo, MS. She was preceded in death by her son Michael South. She was also preceded in death by her sister Billie Mae Keith. She has 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
