Velma Lee Ellis, 87, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019 in Southaven, Mississippi. Family will be receiving friends on Friday, December 6, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home (290 Goodman Road East Southaven, MS 38671), with a celebration of life immediately following. Twin Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Velma was born in Morris, Oklahoma on October 6, 1932. One of Ms Velma’s favorite hobbies was crocheting. Most could describe Velma as a caregiver. She devoted her life to her family and friends. She cherished all the memories made with her children and grandchildren, she will truly be missed.
She is survived by her children, Vicki (Richard) McGregory and Steve (Karen) Ellis; grandchildren, Monica McGregory Cooper, Michelle McGregory Hale, Parker Ellis, and Laken Ellis- Martinez; great-grandchildren, Braden Cooper, Morgan Cooper, Gavin Hale, Mallory Hale, Amelia Ellis, and Easton Ellis; sister, Mary Cox; and a small host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Hubert Ellis; parents, Elsworth and Mary Helen Edwards; and two brothers, Wayne and Douglas Edwards; and sister, Margret Blackmon.
