Tommy L. George, known affectionately as "Go-Getter," passed away in Memphis, TN, surrounded by the love of his family on March 8th. He was born in Millington on August 12th, 1953. Tommy led a full and vibrant life defined by his dedication to hard work and his unwavering love for his family.
Throughout his career as a Union Worker for Union Pacific and Kroger, Tommy found joy in driving trucks, a passion that brought him immense satisfaction. However, it was the moments spent with his beloved grandchildren that truly brought light to his life. He cherished family BBQs and events, often showcasing his culinary skills while creating lasting memories with loved ones. A talented musician, Tommy found solace in playing the guitar alongside his sons, creating harmonious melodies that echoed through the halls of their home.
Tommy was a man revered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His friendly nature and selfless demeanor endeared him to many, making friendships effortlessly wherever he went. Despite his stubborn streak, Tommy's heart was always open, overflowing with generosity and kindness towards those around him.
In his leisure time, Tommy indulged in hobbies such as woodworking, cabinetry work, welding, and caring for the outdoors. These activities allowed him moments of tranquility amidst his bustling schedule as a devoted family man and hardworking individual.
Tommy's proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly his children and grandchildren who survive him: Son Chris (Amanda) George; Daughter Heather (Thomas) Brantley; Grandchildren: Alexis (Kyle) Brantley, Austin Brantley, Conner George, Trinity Brantley, Katelynn Brantley, Jeremy Wolfe, Brennan George, Gavin George, Hunter Brantley, Autumn Brantley, Connor Wolfe, Tucker George, Hudson Brantley.
He is reunited in peace with John Delbert George, his father Doyce Lee George; sister Brenda Landers; uncle Hershel George. Tommy leaves behind a legacy of love that will be forever cherished by his surviving loved ones including his mother Betty Ann George; wife Diane George; Sisters Debbie (Bill) Potts and Barbara Denio; along with other relatives.
Services to honor and celebrate Tommy's life will be held on March 13th at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Southaven. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM followed by the Funeral Service at 3:00 PM and burial at 4:00 PM.
Tommy L. George will be remembered not only for his strong work ethic but also for the immense love he shared with those fortunate enough to have known him. May his memory live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his presence.
