Shirley Woolfolk

Shirley Farmer Woolfolk, age 78, of Horn Lake, Mississippi passed away January 14, 2022, at Baptist DeSoto Hospital.  Visitation will be February 12, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at 1:00 p.m..  Reception will follow.  All services will be held at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Southaven, Mississippi.

Shirley was born January 02, 1944, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee to Walter and Frances Thurman.  She graduated from Tennessee Business College in McMinnville, Tennessee and attended Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee where she met her future husband.  She was a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church and the Order of Eastern Star – Woodlawn chapter #74.  She enjoyed planting flowers of all kinds, gardening, sewing, and music.  She played the clarinet in High School and piano and passed this love of music onto her children.  She loved all animals, especially dogs and her parakeet.

Shirley leaves behind her 2 children: Vivienne Woolfolk – Coburn (James) of Southaven / Horn Lake, Mississippi and Walter Woolfolk (Sandra Woolfolk, PhD) of Starkville, Mississippi; 2 grandchildren: Grace and Joshua Woolfolk of Ames, Iowa; 3 siblings: David Thurman (Lupe) of California, Barbara Thayer (Richard (deceased)) of Indiana, and Joan Dunbar (Col. Jerry Dunbar, retired) of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years William Theodore (Ted) Woolfolk, Jr.,  her brother Maner Thurman, her brother – in – law Richard Thayer, and her parents.

Memorials in her name may be sent to St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church for either altar flowers or special music.
Visitation will be on February 12, 2022, at 12:00 pm. A Graveside service in Mrs. Woolfolk's honor will be at 1:00 pm. There will be a Repast Reception immediately following, all services will be held at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Southaven, Mississippi
