For 30 years, Sherley dedicated herself to her career at Sears, where she was known not only for her hard work but also for her lively spirit and engaging sense of humor. Beyond her professional life, Sherley was an excellent cook whose delicious meals often filled her home with the comforting scent of holiday feasts. Her family will forever cherish the memories of gathering around her table, sharing laughter and creating lasting bonds.
Sherley’s loyal and supportive nature made her a pillar of strength for her family. She had an innate ability to lift others up, always prioritizing their needs over her own. Sherley’s proudest accomplishments were her roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she took immense pride in her family’s achievements.
She has rejoined her husband of 41 years, Charles Rosson "Ross" Courtney, as well as with her daughter Lea Barnes and brother Floyd Phillips, her parents, John D. and Cathline (Palmer) Phillips. Memories of Sherley will continue to bring joy to the lives of those who loved her.
Sherley also shared many happy moments with her sisters, Mary Lee Ervin and Bobbie Jean Phillips, who will carry her memory with them always. In her downtime, Sherley enjoyed watching Fox News and indulging in classic television shows such as Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and Andy Griffith.
