It is with heavy hearts and wagging tails that we announce the passing of our beloved Sam Martinmaas, affectionately known as "Sue." Born on November 1, 2011, in the charming town of Senatobia, MS, he graced our lives for nearly 14 wonderful years before crossing the Rainbow Bridge peacefully at home on February 9, 2025, nestled at his dad's feet, surrounded by the family who adored him.
Sam was no ordinary dog; he was the pack leader, the sweetest boy to ever wag his tail. With a gentle demeanor that radiated love, he was adored by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A true good boy, Sam filled each moment with joy, whether he was dashing after a tennis ball, frolicking outdoors, or snuggling with his cherished babies. His spirit lit up our world, making every day brighter and more vibrant.
He leaves behind a devoted family, including his loving parents, Tom and Candace Martinmaas, and his bonus mom, Seanna Hamm. Sam cherished his fur-brothers, Iggy, Toes, and Max, as well as his sisters — Kayla (Eric) Freeman, Maegan (Steven) Laursen, and Emma (Austin) Freeman. His playful spirit will be remembered fondly by his nieces and nephew, Lela, Oliver, Addileigh, and Caroline, who were lucky to share their days with such an incredible friend.
In his time with us, Sam proudly kept his family safe, embodying the true essence of loyalty and protection. He was always there, whether it was comforting a family member or providing an extra dose of happiness during life's ups and downs. His brotherly bonds extended beyond his living family to those who have passed: he will join fur-brothers Petey, Dobby, Ghost, and Nox, where they can race through fields of eternal sunshine together.
To celebrate the life of Sam, a memorial service will be held on March 8, 2025, at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, MS. Friends and family are welcome to join us in honoring his memory from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
In the hearts of those who loved him, Sam will forever remain the sweetest dog, a gentle soul that left paw prints on the hearts of everyone he met. Rest in peace, dear Sue; the world was a better place with you in it.
