Ruby Marie Wright, known affectionately as "Mema" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024, in Olive Branch, MS, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. She was born on July 3, 1928, in Murphysboro, IL, to Linden and Ella (Herring) Butcher.
Ruby devoted her life to caring for her family after she married her beloved husband of 62 years, John T. Wright, Sr. She was a dedicated homemaker whose quiet and shy demeanor belied a deep love for her family. Her hobbies included fishing and bowling, but above all else, she cherished spending time with her loved ones.
One of Ruby's proudest accomplishments was becoming a mother and grandmother. She found immense joy in nurturing and caring for her children and grandchildren, creating treasured memories that will forever live on in their hearts.
Ruby will be deeply missed by her surviving family: daughter Vicki Walling (John), sons John T. Wright, Jr. (Gloria), and Michael Wright (Debra); six grandchildren Michele DuBois, Shane Wright, Scott Wright, Christine Cook, Laura Lee Wright, Julie Wright; great-grandchildren Josh DuBois, Nicholas DuBois, Faith DuBois, Daniel DuBois, Sean Cook, Stephanie Wright, Jonathan Wright, Clover Wright; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 62 years John T. Wright, Sr., who preceded her in death. Ruby leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Ruby is preceded in death by her brothers Carl Butcher, Earl Butcher, Leonard Butcher, Leo Butcher, Ray Butcher; and sisters Clara LeMarshall and Minnie Dickerson.
Ruby will be remembered for the warmth and kindness she brought into the lives of those around her. Her memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
