Ronald Lewis Turnmire

November 25, 1954 — September 6, 2024

Southaven, MS

Ronald Lewis Turnmire, fondly known as Ronnie, passed away on September 6, 2024, in Southaven, MS, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 25, 1954, in Memphis, TN, Ronnie lived a life full of adventures, laughter, and deep affection for those around him.

Throughout his career Ronnie experienced many paths but ultimately cherished his role as an owner/operator truck driver, embracing the open road and the freedom it brought. He created unforgettable memories with his beloved wife, Sharon Williams Turnmire, as they traveled together, sharing moments under the vast skies and the stories that come with each mile.

Ronnie's zest for life was unmatched; he was absolutely carefree and had an innate ability to connect with others. He loved racing and spent countless hours at the race track, where he shined as a great racecar driver, even earning the title of Super Chevy champion in 1990. He poured his heart into gardening and had a knack for building things – everything crafted with meticulous care. His large and loving spirit extended beyond his interests to encompass his family, which he cherished above all.

He is survived by his devoted wife Sharon, and their children: Justin Turnmire (Jessica), Louie Sanders (Stacy), Lauren Russell (Brian), and Sheri Vannucci (Wayne). Ronnie was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Madison Bedan (Robert), Dylan Russell, Brayden Sanders, Tyler Vannucci, Reese Russell, Carlie Vannucci, Carmen Turnmire, Cade Sanders, and Collin Turnmire. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

Ronnie also leaves behind his siblings Rory Turnmire (Melanie), Tom Turnmire (Julie), and Larry Turnmire (Carol), along with a host of nieces and nephews who were deeply loved by him. He was a friend to many, always sociable and never meeting a stranger, creating connections that enriched his life and the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Merlin John and Elinor Xena (Butler) Turnmire, and siblings Danny Turnmire, Terry Turnmire, and Mike Turnmire, who now embrace him once more in eternal peace.

As his family gathers to honor his memory, the visitation will take place at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Southaven, MS, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on September 12, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM and burial at 2:00 PM.

Ronnie's indomitable spirit, his love for his family, and his joyful nature will be deeply missed but never forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, love, and the lesson to always put family first. As they reflect on the beautiful moments shared, they will forever carry him in their hearts.
