Rachel Dianne Helling, age 71, of Southaven, MS passed away on April 25, 2022. Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 27
th
, 2022, at 1:00pm, followed by a memorial Service in her honor at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 290 Goodman Road East, Southaven, MS, 38671.
Mrs. Helling was born on January 18, 1951, in Haleyville, Alabama to Harold Hunt and Bulah Shannon & Stepfather Lonnie Shannon. In 1969 Rachel completed Tech High School in Memphis Tennessee. She spent 35 of her working years as secretary at Memphis City Schools until she retired. She was also secretary of the ESL special skills and class piano. Mrs. Helling was a great pool player and an even greater poker player. She enjoyed bowling so much that she was a member of a bowling league. Rachel was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Rachel leaves behind her loving husband of five years, Daren Helling; her daughter; Rebecca Ann Leathers; four grandchildren, Rikki Barnett Hufford, Jack Leathers, Jami Sue Hoskins and Caitlyn Hanchett Rushing; two great-grandchildren, Harlow Hoskins, and Madison Leathers; three siblings, Ruby Mcclellan, Lisa Saffell and Lori Shannon; her former colleagues of Memphis City Schools and a host of special friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold Hunt & Bulah Shannon, her stepfather, Lonnie Shannon and her son, Shawn Barnett.
