Southaven, MS

Phil Shayne Maness, who graced this world with his steadfastness and humor, was born on June 20, 1965, in Ft. Polk, Louisiana, and departed from us on December 24, 2024, in Memphis, Tennessee. A union electrician by trade, Phil was celebrated not only for his diligence but also for his unwavering dependability and good-natured spirit. He was a man at the crossroads of hard work and spirited joy, embodying a kind of humor that could lighten the heaviest of days.

Phil found solace and adventure in the great outdoors, often transporting himself and his loved ones to distant national parks or the membership of Cloud 9 Ranch, where the thrill of riding four-wheelers became cherished memories. A devoted Boy Scout troop leader, he instilled values of camaraderie and nature appreciation in the young hearts he nurtured. His penchant for camping excursions bore witness to his love for adventure, reveling in moments spent in the wild with family, where laughter echoed amidst the trees.

His interests extended beyond mother nature’s embrace; he was an aficionado of old horror movies, always ready for a film night that usually ended in gleeful frights. Phil was a jokester, full of life, and often found with a bright smile, reminding all who knew him of life’s simple joys, as he always had something uplifting to say. The warmth of his spirit enveloped a vast circle of friends who were captivated by his charm and genuine kindness.

Though his journey in life may have ended, the legacy Phil leaves behind is rich with love and pride. He is survived by his beloved children: Phil Shayne (Stephany) Maness, Hunter Lee Maness, Tabatha (Robert) Fondren, and Ethan (Brittney) Maness; and his cherished grandchildren: Elaina Chandler, Robert Fondren, Jr., and Augustus Maness. He also leaves behind his brother Keith (Ronda) Maness, loving nieces Amy (Aaron) Durham, Ashley (Christian) Stewart, and Ally Maness, his girlfriend Janice Sandy, siblings George Curry, Timothy Curry, Thomas (Stephanie) Curry, Crystal Curry, niece and nephew Ashley (Andy) Jobe, Matthew Maness. He also leaves behind Theresa Maness other family and friends who adored him dearly.
