Paula Cantrell Echols, age 78, of Southaven, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 at her home. She was born in New Ark, AR on July 26, 1945 to the late Charles Woodrow and Gladys Irene (Moore) Cantrell.
Paula attended Glenn’s Chapel Church, enjoyed ceramics, arts and crafts, going to Beavoir in Biloxi with her husband, playing bingo with her daughter-in-law, camping trips with her family and scouts, playing cards with her husband John and their friends, and taking care of her son Paul. She also helped start the Tiger Cub program for the Chickasaw Council of the Boy Scouts, helped with troop activities for Boy Scout Troops 375 and 344, helped with the Order of the Arrow, and was involved in the PTA at Hope Sullivan Elementary School.
In addition to her parents, Paula is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, John Lynn Echols, Sr., son Paul Maitland Echols, brother Charles W. Cantrell, and sister-in-law Doris Cantrell.
Paula will be lovingly remembered by her son, John Lynn Echols, Jr. (Rita), grandchildren Stacey Elizabeth Dunn (Gabe), Justin Woodrow Echols (Katie), Jacob Andrew Echols (Ana-Katherine Hawkins), great grandchildren Dalton Brown (20) (Lexi Ferzacca), Abby Dunn (18), Tori Brown (18), Kelsey Coffey (14), Deuce Dunn (14), Kinsley Echols (12), Dillon Dunn (10), Brycen Gainey (10), Haven Echols (1), Remington Echols (10 months), and her great-granddaughter Blakley Brown (1).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Twin Oaks Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Glenn’s Chapel from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
