Mrs. Neva Goodwin, 67, of Nesbit, MS passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 at her residence in Nesbit. She was born March 10, 1951 in Oklahoma City, OK to the late Clifford Wilson Moss and Geneva Ola Poe Moss.
It could be said that God broke the mold when He created Neva, she truly was a one of a kind woman. She was extremely strong willed, determined, and was definitely a fighter in all aspects. She could be known as a spitfire, someone who was a straight shooter and was honest to a fault. Neva would certainly tell you her opinion and what was on her mind, but always presented it in a loving fashion. She was never foul mouthed and had a laugh that could brighten even your darkest days. She was selfless and would do anything to help others in need. She absolutely loved hosting her family and friends, whether it was during the holidays, birthdays, or social functions, you could be certain that Neva would be in the kitchen cooking and baking just about anything you could envision. During these functions, her family recalls the ‘wonderful smells’ that would radiate from the kitchen and fill their home.
Neva loved gardening, her Koi pond, and her flowers, specifically roses and azaleas. To say she possessed a green thumb would be an understatement. She knew just about everything there was to know about flowers and plants and more often than not her family would come to her with all of their gardening questions. Neva enjoyed traveling to new places and taking cruises with her family. She also enjoyed visiting the casinos and playing the slots and bingo.
Above all else, Neva was extremely motivated and driven by her family. Her family came first and foremost. She loved, cared for, and defended them with her entire being. Neva’s legacy will continue to live on through the numerous memories she made with her family and friends.
Neva leaves behind her loving husband of thirty-seven years, Clarence Goodwin of Nesbit, MS; three sons, Timothy French of Tucson, AZ, Tyran French of Nesbit, MS, and Trent Goodwin (Lori) of Horn Lake, MS; one daughter, Tamara Rutledge (Sean Walton) of Horn Lake, MS; one brother, Clyde Moss (Mary) of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister, Bettie R.
