Nell Davis

Nell Davis, lovingly known to her family and friends as "Booty," passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, in Southaven, Mississippi, surrounded by her cherished family and friends. Born on December 21, 1934, in Abbeville, Mississippi, Nell lived a life rich with love, laughter, and unwavering faith.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Nell took immense pride in her family, who were always at the forefront of her heart. She is survived by her children, Barbara Hulsey, Belinda (Roger) Kellum, Terry Davis, and Timothy (Kathleen) Davis, daughter-in-law Jill Davis; her grandchildren, Kevin (Natalie) Smith, Blake Wilson, Paige (Dylan) Anthony, Brandon Davis, Adam Davis, Mason (Selina) Kellum, and Hunter Davis; and her great-grandchildren, Caleb Smith, Aubrey Smith, Eliza Davis, Liam Kellum, Luke Kellum, and Brody Anthony. Nell's love extended beyond immediate family to her beloved sisters, Grace Leake, Jane Timbs, Elaine Leake, and Nina Wingo, who enjoyed taking beach trips and celebrating all holidays together.

Nell was not just a mother; she was an extraordinary woman whose strong work ethic and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Throughout her career in trucking and customer service, she handled VIP accounts with grace, showcasing her ability to connect with people while genuinely caring for their needs. Her colleagues and clients remembered her not just for her professionalism, but for the warmth she brought to every interaction. She was a person who liked to greet folks at church with her big hugs and contagious smile.

Her personality carried a sense of wonderment; she always sought the positive in every situation and had an innate ability to make people feel valued and loved. Nell loved to create memories with her family, whether it was enjoying outings at Big Lots with her daughter, attending church services, or perfecting her recipes for holiday dressing, cheesy grits, biscuits and gravy, and chocolate gravy. She loved growing roses and had an eye for matching jewelry with her outfits, taking pleasure in her appearance and the joy it brought her. Nell was the kind of person who would snap pictures of loved ones at the most amusing and unexpected moments, often with food in their mouths, leaving behind a treasure trove of memories that would make her family smile for years to come.

Faith played a central role in Nell's life. She cherished her relationship with God, who guided her daily, anchoring her values and actions. She believed that family was number one, and she instilled a deep sense of faith in her children. Nell treasured every moment spent with her relatives, celebrating Christmas with her family and enjoying the company of the "sassy seniors" at her church.

Though Nell has joined her parents, Terry and Sallie Leake, and her sister, Sarah Cook, in eternal rest, the love she cultivated will continue to blossom through her family. As they navigate this profound loss, they carry with them the love she nurtured and the countless joyful memories created along the way.

A visitation for Nell Davis will be held on March 21, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, Mississippi. Her funeral service will take place the following day at Compel Church, also in Southaven, starting at 1:00 PM, followed by her burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens at 3:00 PM.
