Southaven, MS –
Myrtle Belle Woods
passed away peacefully July 5, 2016, surrounded by her three sons and their families. Mrs. Woods was born November 19, 1934 in Waldenburg, AR, was a retired forklift operator for Rexham Paper, lived in Memphis for many years and made Southaven her home in 1962. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Lytle; her adopted mother, who raised her from the age of three, Lida Mae “Mammy” Bonk; as well as her husband, Robert Lee Woods; and her oldest son, Donnie Woods. She is survived by her boys, Rodney Woods and his wife, Patsy, Eddie Woods and his wife, Martha, and Paul Woods and his wife, Mitzi. She was very proud of her 13 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren, all of whom loved her very much. Mrs. Woods’ life revolved around this very big and loving family. Her husband, Robert Lee was a Master Mason, Shriner, and member of the Olive Branch Shrine Club. They loved spending afternoons together fishing and enjoying God’s work. To walk into her house was like walking through her life in pictures. Every square inch was covered in memories and experiences of those who were so close to her heart. And everyone simply referred to her as “Mamaw.” She was the matriarch of our family and we all will remember her for the strength and love she showed day in and day out. She enjoyed spending her later days working crossword puzzles with her dog, Suzie Q, and looking out the window at all the birds and flowers. Visitation will be Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. and Friday, July 8, 2016 from
9:00 a.m.
until the service begins at
10:00 a.m.
at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven. Burial will follow in Lebanon Cemetery in Olive Branch, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a charitable donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the name of Myrtle Belle Woods.
