Monroe Walton, Sr., 78, of Southaven, Mississippi passed away on January 31, 2021. Visitation will be held at Brown Missionary Baptist Church (980 Stateline Rd E, Southaven, MS 38671) on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with funeral services at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens (290 Goodman Road East Southaven, MS 38671). Twin Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Monroe was born on January 16, 1943 in Como, MS. He confessed Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of Saint Andrew AME Church. Monroe graduated from Mississippi Industrial College and pursued his graduate studies at University of Mississippi. He was proud of having retired from 2 careers; a 32 year retired educator from the Mississippi Retirement System and 34 year sporting good manager from Wal-Mart. Most of all he loved the Lord and his family. He would boast of his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments daily. He always had a smile and kind word for everyone he met.
He was a loving father, husband, and friend.
Monroe is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Annie Ruth Walton; 3 beloved children, Monroe (Beverly) Walton, Jr., Pamela (Eddie) Walton Littlejohn and Adrian (Chasidy) Walton, 5 beautiful grandchildren that he loved dearly, Kiara, Javon, India, Jalyn, and Monroe Jamar, one great-grandchild, one brother John(Maggie) Walton and a host of other nephews, nieces relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Crockett and Velma Louise Walton,Sr and two brothers Crockett Jr and Berkley.
Monroe will truly be missed by his loved ones.Family will be receiving friends at Brown Missionary Baptist Church (980 Stateline Rd E, Southaven, MS 38671) on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service following. Interment will be held at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
