Milton R. Crawford, lovingly known to many as Mickey, passed away unexpectedly on February 4, 2025, in Southaven, Mississippi, at the age of 87. Born on July 2, 1937, in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, Mickey was a man whose life was a testament to kindness, loyalty, and unwavering faith.
He made life-long friends while proudly serving in the US Army in Fayetteville, NC at Fort Bragg. Afterwards, he began his 43-year career at Tennessee Valley Electric Supply. Mickey formed life-long friendships with his customers, always bringing a smile and a warm presence to those he encountered. He was known for his generosity and a willingness to help those in need, reflecting his kind spirit and caring personality. Mickey had an eye for detail and could fix anything that came his way, a true marvel of practicality woven into his nature.
Mickey was more than just a dedicated professional; he was also a devoted husband, loving father, and proud family man. He is survived by his wife, Betty Crawford, who stood by him as a loving partner throughout their 66 years together. Their family tree flourished under his care, including his children Mark Crawford and Jill (Russell) Wilson, and he took immense pride in his grandchildren Justin (Kalie) Crawford, Anna Katherine Wilson, and J.P. Wilson, as well as his cherished great-grandchildren Mason Woods, Jayson Woods, Seth Crawford, and Laela Crawford. He is also survived by his siblings, Phillip (Janis) Crawford and Rodney (Mable) Crawford, along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives who were blessed by his presence.
Mickey enjoyed a myriad of hobbies that brought him joy and relaxation. In addition to a life-long love of basketball, he loved hunting, particularly duck hunting, and spent many pleasant days fishing for crappie. An avid golfer, he often found peace on the course, swinging clubs with a smile. Gardening was another passion of his, where he nurtured his tomatoes with great care. Mickey's appreciation for the outdoors allowed him to enjoy life's simple pleasures and create special memories with loved ones.
Throughout his life, Mickey carried a strong faith and was devoted to his church family. He lived his faith fully, demonstrating through his actions the values he held dear. This foundation of faith was a guiding light in his life, bringing comfort and strength to him and those around him.
As we gather to celebrate Mickey's life, we will carry forward the cherished memories he imparted to us all. From the laughter shared during family gatherings to quiet moments spent outdoors, Mickey's spirit will forever be etched in our hearts.
