Michael Keith Scott, affectionately known as "Mike," was born on December 28, 1956, in Memphis, TN, and passed away peacefully on August 17 2024, in Dunedin, FL, surrounded by his beloved family. His journey through life was marked by an innate kindness and a spirit that brought joy to all who knew him.
Mike dedicated his career to being a hauler, a profession that allowed him to travel the open roads and meet countless individuals along the way. He had a knack for storytelling, sharing tales that left everyone in stitches with his endearing humor. Always the funny man of the group, Mike was an ornery jokester, whose laughter echoed in the hearts of those he loved. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him will carry with them memories that are simply too many to mention.
At the core of Mike’s being was his remarkable heart, which was undoubtedly the biggest one anyone could ever have. He nurtured relationships and friendships with a genuine warmth, which he considered his proudest accomplishments. It was this profound ability to connect with others that left an indelible mark on his family and friends.
Among the joys of his life, Mike cherished riding motorcycles and embarking on road trips that were purely for pleasure, free from the burdens of work. In quiet moments, he found comfort in watching "Gunsmoke," a tradition that evoked fond reminiscences of simpler times.
Mike leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his partner Sharon Thompson, daughter Kimberly McCoy, son Michael Scott, Jr., and five grandchildren who brought him immense pride and joy. He also shared special bonds with his sister Trish DeGraw, his brothers Richard Scott and Paul Scott, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins, all who will miss him dearly.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Scott Jr. and Betty (Lang) Johnson, his son Shaun Ross, and his brother John Scott. Their memories will forever be intertwined with Mike's, as they continue to inspire and strengthen the ties of family that he held so dearly.
In honoring Mike’s life, family and friends will gather for a visitation on September 14, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, located at 290 Goodman Rd E, Southaven, MS 38671.
