Mary Faltus

March 30, 1935 — November 2, 2024

Horn Lake, MS

Mary Faltus, a passionate music enthusiast, devoted mother, and fiercely loving community member, peacefully departed this world on November 2, 2024, after a long illness. Born on March 30, 1935, in Greenville, Mississippi, Mary’s life was a melody composed of a remarkable array of experiences, heartfelt connections, and profound love.

As a beloved mother to Angela (Robert) Denton, Marla (Donde) Baldwin, Tracy Record, Cecilia Peeples, Oscar (Stephanie) Faltus, Denise (Louie) Sicka, Cherry Phelps, and Ronald (Beverly) Lipe, her legacy flourishes through her children, 19 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. Each family gathering was a cherished occasion, often centered around a generous spread of homemade pasta, with enchanting Italian stories that wove the threads of holiday memories together—reliving joyful moments that transcended time and space.

Her vibrant spirit resonated in the community through her contributions, notably as the owner of Marlo Records, where she poured her heart into writing and recording songs like "Mr. Ducktail" and "The Stroll." A creative soul, she embraced music as her canvas, letting it express her innermost thoughts and passions. Yet, her generosity extended beyond the recording studio; Mary's initiatives to start a homeowner's association at Twin Lakes Subdivision reflected her caring nature and commitment to community welfare, serving as its president with fervor and devotion.

Mary’s educational journey began with her graduation from Greenville High School, followed by Northwest Junior College, nurturing within her a love for learning that she carried throughout her life. An outspoken advocate, she became an integral part of the Northwest MS Shriner's Club Ladies Auxiliary, showing her continued dedication to service and brotherhood.

An accomplished pogo game master and culinary enthusiast, Mary enveloped those around her with kindness, her laughter bridging generations of family and friends. She found joy in gardening, nurturing vibrant blooms that mirrored the love she spread. Her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren, whom she adored deeply, alongside her pets and well-tended flowers—a testament to her nurturing spirit.

Mary is survived by her children and their families, as well as her sister-in-law, Mary Cortesi, and a host of other family and friends who were touched by her light. She now reunites with her dear parents, Arthur and Rosie Cortesi; her beloved spouse, L.P. Brutus Faltus; her brother, Arthur Cortesi, Jr.; and her cherished children, Lori and David Faltus.

The echoes of Mary’s laughter, her compassionate heart, and her unwavering spirit will forever resonate with those whose lives she touched. Join family and friends in celebrating her life during the visitation at Christ the King Catholic Church in Southaven, MS, on November 8, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Mass at 1:00 PM and a burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home at 2:30 PM.
