Mrs. Mary Ann Davis Alexander, 81, of Southaven, MS died Sunday, October 14, 2018 at North Delta Hospice in Southaven, after being a resident of Life Point Village for seven years. She was born February 23, 1937 in Atwood, TN to the late Roy L. Davis and A. Blanch Ingle Davis. Mrs. Alexander was a member of LaBelle Haven Church in Memphis for thirty-one years, where she taught a four-year-old Sunday school class, as well as sang in the choir. She was also a member of CHC for thirty-one years, where she sang in the choir and was also active in the senior adult ministry. Mrs. Alexander is known by most individuals as “The Avon Lady”, since she was a sales representative for Avon for over thirty years. Mrs. Alexander’s legacy will continue to live on through the countless memories she made with her family and friends.
Mrs. Alexander leaves behind her daughter, Jo Ann Bishop (Tony) of Nesbit, MS; son, Billy Joe Alexander, Jr. (Ann) of Hernando, MS; sister Margaret Sherrell Warr (Tony) of Lakeland, FL; brother, James Leslie Davis of Lakeland, FL; eight grandchildren, Craig Alexander, Heather Bell (Bowan), Brent Alexander, Shannon Pittman (Matthew), Bonnie Wilkerson (Kipley), Melody Harrison (Jeff), Jonathan Alexander, and Toni Shiver (Joey); seventeen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Alexander also leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Billy Joe Alexander, Sr.; parents, Roy L & A. Blanch Davis; and sister-in-law, Shirley Chalk and brother in law, Willie Chalk.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations and memorials in honor of Mrs. Mary Ann Davis Alexander, be made to The Gideons International Processing Center (P.O. Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251) or the Alzheimer’s Association (225 N. Michigan Ave. Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601).
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 2:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home (290 Goodman Road East, Southaven, MS 38671) with the funeral service following at 3:30 P.M. in the chapel. Interment will be held at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
