Martha Frank Hopkins

August 17, 1934 — November 3, 2024

Hernando, MS

Martha Frank Hopkins, affectionately known as Granny and Frankie, graced this world with her presence from August 17, 1934, until her peaceful passing on November 3, 2024, in Tunica, Mississippi. Born in the quaint town of Ashland, MS, she lived a remarkable life full of love, laughter, and memories that will be cherished by her family and all who knew her.

Martha's heart was as big as her talents. She dedicated herself to being a caregiver throughout her life, always ready to lend a helping hand to children and families in need. Whether it was cooking delightful meals for church members or potlucks and sewing clothes for her children. Her nurturing spirit was evident in all she did. Martha’s passion extended beyond her own family; she even made uniforms for soldiers during World War II, demonstrating her commitment to the greater good.

In addition to her loving nature, Martha was deeply involved in her community. She was a hands-on person who enjoyed gardening, often growing vegetables that she would can for future use, and her backyard garden was a source of pride and happiness. Her culinary skills were unmatched; she was known for her exceptional cooking and perfected the art of making sweet tea, a daily ritual she cherished though she never drank a drop herself.

Martha was a devoted follower of Jesus, often found reading and studying her Bible. She never met a stranger and engaged with everyone she encountered, showcasing her warm and welcoming personality. Her stoically humorous spirit brought a unique charm to every gathering, and her ability to tell stories captivated both young and old. Martha was also a cheerleader for her children and grandchildren at their sporting events, always ready to support and encourage them with love and pride.

She is survived by her loving children, Cindy (Eugene) Honeycutt, Steve (Beckie) Hopkins, and Jeff Hopkins. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Richard, Brooke, Jessica, Michael, Emily, Andrew, Callison, Brianna, Peyton and great-grandchildren: Barrett, Jilian, Rosemary, Taylor, Blake, Levi, Wyatt, Landon, Kennedee, Brayden, Lennox, Carson, Makenzie, Swayze, who carry forward her spirit of kindness and compassion. Martha is also remembered fondly by her siblings, Carol Jarvis and Phil (Diane) Peeler, along with the special family friends Debbie and Cory Cupps family, Flora Moore family, and Evelyn Robbins family.

Martha is reunited in loving memory with her beloved husband, Gene D. Hopkins, as well as her parents, Jesse and Hermie Peeler. She joins her late siblings Billy (Maxine) Peeler, Freddie Hugh Peeler, and Mary Grace Graves, and brother-in-law Bill Jarvis, and her cherished daughter Tracy (Gary) Roberts, along with grandson Richard Honeycutt.

A visitation in honor of Martha will take place on November 16, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Southaven Church of Christ. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM.
