Louise Harriet Whittaker

Louise Harriet Whittaker, age 90, of Southaven, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 at her daughter’s home.  She was born on January 24, 1933 in Riverton, IL to the late John and Esther (Trow) Straukas.

Louise was a member of Carriage Hills Baptist Church and loved her Sunday School class.  She also loved gardening, working word scrambles, cooking, reading her Bible, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Louise is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, James D.  Whittaker, grandson Nick Engledow, and sister Dorothy Jane Kaylor.

Louise will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Kathleen Curley (Eddie), Terry Engledow (Larry), and Patricia Toomey (Van), nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Elizabeth Zirlott, her beloved dog Mike, and a plethora of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Carriage Hills Baptist Church, 8352 Farmington Drive West, Southaven, from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Gardens South in Memphis.
