Larry Lee Hassell

Larry Lee Hassell passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023, in Germantown, Tennessee. Larry was born on February 28, 1933 to Robert and Margaret Hassell of Yorkville, Tennessee. Larry served as an active duty member of the U.S. Coast Guard from November 1951 to November 1954 achieving the rank of Electricians Mate Second Class, receiving an honorable discharge. Larry attended Bellevue Baptist Church for many years. In Memphis, Larry was self-employed in the automobile business until he was appointed to the parole board by Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist. Larry was married to his former wife, Joyce Barnett Hassell, for 42 years, until her passing in 2009.

Larry is survived by his wife, Deanna Hassell; daughters, Rachel (Logan) and Rebecca; grandsons, Henry and Jameson; brother, J.B. Hassell (Dorothy); and nephews, Keith (Charlene) and Jay (Lucelandia).   A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm, Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee.
