Kelley Michelle Hastings

One of God’s special angels returned home today, April 11, 2024.   Kelley Michelle Hastings, 56, of Hammond, LA, has shuffled off the mortal coil and returned to Heaven.  Kelley is survived by her brother, Rodney Hastings (Theresa) of Central, LA, and sisters, Lisa Stewart (Eddie) of Albany, LA and Susan Gilchrist (Bryan) of Covington, LA, as well as eight nieces and nephews, 13 great-nieces and -nephews, and one great-grandniece. Kelley was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Janet Hastings, her sister, Pam Walls, and her nephew, J.B. Walls.

During her time on Earth, Kelley touched many people’s lives.  Those close to her were blessed by her smile and special laugh as they learned what is truly meant by unconditional love.  Most learned to honor her stubborn streak, as she strove to achieve as much independence as she was able to. All who observed her came to understand that limitations imposed on the body and mind were not barriers to true happiness.

Kelley’s family is forever grateful to everyone who was there for her in her time of comfort and need, from Dr. Greg Allen, who tended to Kelley’s needs for 40 years, to the caring staff at North Oaks Hospital and The Sanctuary at Passages Hospice of New Orleans.
