Karen Rickett Higginbotham, age 64, of Southaven, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022. She was born in Hayti, Missouri on February 10, 1958, to Charles and Juanita Rickett.
Karen was a graduate of Southaven High School in 1976, and still loved to hang out with many of her ’76 Chicks. She attended Northwest Mississippi Jr. College prior to joining the United States Postal Service in 1977.
Karen was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Southaven, Mississippi. She was extremely gifted in athletics especially basketball and softball. She wore the lucky jersey #11, which her granddaughter Zoe’ now wears in her honor. In addition to her skills in sports Karen was a natural artist. She would take something as simple as a piece of wood and reform it into a masterpiece. Karen was a fan of many sports, The Tennessee Titans and Memphis Grizzlies were her favorites, though she would spend many Sundays following NASCAR or the PGA on TV. She had a love for people, but she really loved her Yorkie, Harley, and was rarely seen without him by her side.
Karen was preceded in death by her father Charlie T. Rickett. She leaves behind her Mother Juanita Rickett; three children; Kari (Larry) Garrison of Southaven, MS, Tyler Higginbotham of Olive Branch, MS, and Kaitlin Higginbotham of Germantown, TN, four grandchildren; Landon Garrison, Kylie Pennington, Zoe’ Garrison, and Langston Garrison; two siblings; Ricky Rickett of Southaven, MS and Pamela (Steve) Bartelli of Wasilla, AK, three nephews; Richard Rickett, Daniel Rickett, and Alan Bartelli; one niece; Shayna McGinty and many other family & friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Twin Oaks Funeral Home, 290 Goodman Road East, Southaven. A Graveside Service in her honor will be March 30, 2022, at 11:00 am in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
