Joseph “Joe” Dempsey, 79, was born May 4, 1936 in Kingston, NY and passed away April 5, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven, MS. Mr. Dempsey served 20 distinguished years in the U.S. Marine Corps and worked for 36 years in the U.S. Postal Service. He is survived by his wife Marlene; one son, Donald Dempsey; four daughters, Cynthia Villalovos, Bobbie Shepard, Cathy Harvey and Jami Thorsen; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 1 p.m. until the memorial service begins at 2 p.m. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be made to either The Fisher House Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
