John Russell Shryock, 71, of Southaven, MS passed away on January 30

John was born April 9
th
, 1951, in Memphis, TN. He graduated from Whitehaven High School and went on to attend Memphis State University where he played football for the Tigers. He spent the majority of his professional career working for Black’s Apothecary in Whitehaven, where he enjoyed the work and personal relationships he developed with his co-workers and customers.
He was married to Marilyn for 47 years, and they had one son, Steven.
John loved hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He had adventures fishing in Mexico and hunting antelope in Wyoming. He took great pride in keeping his yard perfectly manicured, spending numerous hours getting it just right. He also loved everything sports and enjoyed coaching and watching Steven in numerous sports throughout the years. He most recently enjoyed watching the videos of Jackson as he carries on his passion for sports.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, his son Steven (Marlena), his beloved grandson Jackson, and sister Sandra (Jeffrey) Cross.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of his life, which will be held at Compel Church on Saturday, February 3
