James “Woodrow” Oaks

James Woodrow Oaks, age 86, passed away August 21, 2022, in Coldwater, Mississippi. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. A Funeral Service in his honor will be held on Saturday August 27, 2022, at 11:00am at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. There will be a Graveside service immediately following at Hopewell Cemetery, 476 Kelly Crossing Road, Coldwater, MS, 38618.

Mr. Oaks was born in Cullman County, Alabama on September 30, 1935, to Othel and Nettie-Jane Oaks. He was a man of strong faith and a dedicated member of Hernando Church of God. He had the biggest most loving heart. Woodrow kept a smile on his face & the face of others. He was truly a joy to be around. He enjoyed doing a lot of things but above all things he loved being a father.

Woodrow leaves 11 Children: Frances Cayson, Sandra Lemley, Tony Oaks, Shelia Sloan, Debbie Nixon, Patty Oaks, Gerald Oaks, Chrisdale Martin, Woodrow A. Oaks, Rebekah Lee, and John Oaks, 35 Grandchildren; 44 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Great- Great Grandchildren and his sisters; Laura Teal, & Mary Brookshire.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Othel & Nettie-Jane Oaks, two sons, Ricky & Daniel Oaks, four siblings; Patsy Glosson, Alton Oaks, Viola White & Carolyn Kirby and three Grandchildren.
