James Edward Leeper,
78, died Monday, April 24, 2017 in Southaven. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Olga Dianne Leeper; daughters, Mary Waldrip Bonds and her husband, Jonathan of Senatobia, MS and Daphlyn Koester of Hernando, MS; grandchildren, Sara Waldrip, Hannah Waldrip, both of Sardis, MS, Ethan Koester, and Michael Koester, both of California; mother-in-law, Nannie Laverne Duncan of Southaven; brothers, John Leeper and his wife, Frances of Nashville, TN, Earl Leeper and his wife, Edna Earl of Trenton, TN, and Bill Leeper of Ft. Worth,TX; and his lifelong schoolmate and friend, Thomas Elliott of Piperton, TN. Born April 2, 1939 in Decatur County, TN to Opal Charlotte Leeper and Wilma Franklin Leeper, who preceded him in death; he graduated from Spring Hill High School in Gibson County, TN and attended Bethel College in McKenzie, TN, where he was a member of both the baseball and basketball teams. Mr. Leeper enjoyed sports and in his earlier years, was an umpire for the Greenbrook girls fastpitch softball league. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.
