Irine Baker Martin

May 29, 1946 — June 30, 2024

Southaven, MS

Irine Baker Martin, a dedicated engraver who devoted over 30 years of her life to C&J Trophy, has passed away in Southaven, MS. Born in Tchula, MS on May 29, 1946, Irine was a remarkable woman cherished by all who knew her.

Throughout her lifetime, Irine touched the lives of countless individuals simply by being present. Her warm personality radiated kindness, and she never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. At times stubborn and hard-headed, her unwavering love for everyone she encountered left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.

In addition to her successful career, Irine found joy in simple pleasures such as spending her days taking care of her dog Dixie and she loved her fur grandbabies and she loved roses and gardenias. She had a passion for reading and enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel, HGTV, and Food Network. Cooking brought her immense satisfaction, and her culinary creations were always made with love.

To her family, Irine was an Amazing Angel.  She was known as the Energizer Bunny, Sunshine, and Nosey Rosie.  She was the best wife, Mama, Mawmaw, Aunt, sister, and friend.  She had a heart of gold and was the kindest, sweetest person who always checked on everyone to make sure they were ok.  She always had a shoulder to cry on and a listening ear.  She loved cooking food for people as well.  She was the strongest woman her family knew, and was the rock that held her family together.  She always had a smile and an encouraging word for anyone that needed to hear it.  Irine considered everyone to be her "baby".

Among Irine's proudest accomplishments were becoming a loving mother to Melissa Talley and Marty Martin, as well as a doting grandmother to Jonathan Foster and Kristi Carroll.  Her legacy extended further to include great-grandchildren Harper and Charlotte Foster, who brought immense happiness into her life.

Irine is preceded in death by her beloved husband Raymond Martin, parents George Ira and Daisy Bell (Killebrew) Baker, siblings John Baker, Mary Estes, George Baker, Wesley Baker, Jo Cutler, Betty Baker, James "Jim" Baker, Chester Baker, Gertrude "Jean" McMahon, Paul Baker, Faye Ellett, Billy Baker, Patsy Cochran, and niece Donna McMahon.

She is survived by her daughter Melissa Talley (Mickey); son Marty Martin (Christie); grandchildren Jonathan Foster (Casey) and Kristi Carroll (Kodi); great-grandchildren Harper and Charlotte Foster; numerous nieces, nephews; as well as extended family members who will all carry on her memory with love and gratitude.

Our dear Irine departed peacefully after a valiant battle with a lengthy illness on June 30th. A visitation will be held on July 5th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Southaven. The burial will take place at 12:00 PM on the same day at the same location.

In every heart she touched and every life she graced with compassion and love, Irine Baker Martin will forever be remembered as an extraordinary soul who brightened the world with her presence.
