Helen A. Garner, born on July 24, 1940, in Booneville, Mississippi, passed away on September 12, 2024, in Southaven, Mississippi, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and dedication.

Helen devoted her entire career to one remarkable job, serving as the CEO of a local credit union, where her leadership was characterized by her friendly and helpful demeanor. Her generosity was felt by all who crossed her path, and she took pride in her accomplishments, which included raising her two beloved sons and guiding a meaningful and impactful career.

Helen’s zest for life was evident in her adventurous spirit, most notably demonstrated when she traveled by motorcycle to all 49 states with her husband, John R. Blackstone, Jr. The journeys they undertook created endless memories filled with laughter and love, showcasing a bond that was both deep and inspiring. Helen also had a fondness of gardening, showcasing her green thumb with any flower she touched. As a mother, she nurtured her sons, James (Troy) Garner and John (Sherrie) Garner, actively supporting them through all of life’s triumphs and challenges.

In addition to her sons, Helen cherished her niece, Melissa Inman, and found joy in her grandchildren, Olivia, Audrea, Lauren, Christina, Savannah, Johnathan, Luke, Colton, Adrian and great-grandchildren, Sadie, Cecilia, Lilliana along with two more great-granddaughters,  taking pride in the beautiful family they had built together. Helen’s nurturing nature and supportive hugs provided comfort and warmth to all who were blessed to be part of her life.

Helen's passing leaves a void not just within her close-knit family but also among her many friends and relatives who admired her caring spirit and unwavering support. Though her parents and siblings have preceded her in death, her influence and legacy will continue through the lives she touched.

A visitation will be held on September 16, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Greenbrook Baptist Church in Southaven, followed by a funeral service starting at 2:00 PM. Helen will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Booneville, Mississippi, on the same day.

As we celebrate the remarkable life of Helen A. Garner, we are reminded of the adventures she embarked upon, the lives she enriched, and the kindness she shared with the world. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved her.
