Harry “Pa” Russel Shaw, Sr., age 86, passed away on October 31, 2022, in Southaven, MS. In honor of our Veteran, there will be a graveside service on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
Pa was born on August 8, 1936, in East Rochester, Ohio to the late James and Mildred Shaw. He was of Christian faith. Pa served this country with pride, throughout the United States as well as his extended tours of duty in both Germany and Thailand as an Air Force medic. He was highly involved in all Air Force Base team sports. He played in the Base football, softball, and bowling league throughout his career.
Pa loved watching all sports on tv regardless of who or what was playing. He liked watching old Westerns as well. He married his wife, Hulda “Ma” Hawkins Shaw on December 8, 1956. He and Ma loved having get-togethers with their family and enjoying meals together. He raised his children with them having no doubt they were loved, and always had a place to come home to, should it be needed. He took his role as grandpa seriously and kept a candy stash by his recliner to make sure his grandchildren would have a piece available anytime they were there.
Those left to cherish Pa’s memories include his Children: Butch Shaw, Howard Shaw, Bob (Cheryl) Shaw, Doug (Jodi) Shaw; his Grandchildren: Shane (Sandy) Davis, Jonathan Shaw, Matthew Shaw, Michael Shaw, Jacob (Madison) Shaw, Brock Shaw, Ross (Mary) Shaw, Kayla (Tanner) Puckett, Madison Shaw, Madelynn Fraser, Julia Shaw, Eva Shaw, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Pa is preceded in death by his Parents: James and Mildred Shaw; all 7 of his siblings; his wife “Ma” Hulda Shaw; his daughter Mitzi Mitchell; his grandchildren: April Davis, Kaitlyn Shaw, Jason Davis, Vivian “Abbi” Shaw.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The research done at the hospital was very important to Pa and the Shaw family due to the care his granddaughter received. In honor of our Veteran, there will be a graveside service on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
