Glen Allen Hale, known to many as "Bonsai", passed away on June 7, 2024, in Southaven, MS. He was born on January 28, 1950, in Ticumcari, NM. Glen led a fulfilling life filled with love, laughter.
During his professional career, Glen was a self-employed floor installer who took great pride in his work, his true passion lay in the arts and nature. He was a talented painter and devoted his time to training bonsai trees - a reflection of his patient and nurturing nature.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Glen found immense joy in spending time with his family. His daughter Shelley held a special place in his heart, as he imparted his knowledge of music to her and shared countless memorable moments together. Despite his grumpy demeanor at times, Glen's big heart shone through in his playful ways.
Glen's personality was a unique blend of a hippie spirit and an old soul. He had a penchant for cracking jokes and bringing smiles to the faces of those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his wife Mary (Munsey) Dobsch and daughter Shelley Dunn, Glen is survived by five grandchildren: Connor Dunn, Christian Dunn, Graham Dunn, Hunter Munsey, and Chelsea Munsey; as well as three great-grandchildren: Emery, Adalyn, and Timothy. He was predeceased by his mother and step-father Dora (Chalk) and Frankie Poe, brother Steven B. Hale, sister Carolyn Brown, and his beloved grandmother Evelyn Chalk.
Glen also proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war and was stationed in Germany. His dedication to his country exemplified his strong sense of duty and honor.
One of Glen's proudest accomplishments was being a member of the DeSoto Arts Council. His creative contributions will continue to inspire future generations of artists.
In his final moments, Glen was surrounded by his loving family after battling a lengthy illness. Despite the challenges he faced, Glen remained resilient until the end.
Today we celebrate the life of Glen Allen Hale - a man whose laughter echoed through the halls of our memory and whose spirit will forever live on in our hearts. May he rest in peace knowing he was loved deeply and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
