GAVIN GLENNARD CUSHMAN, JR.
went home to be with the Lord on August 4, 2016 in Southaven, MS. Gavin was born in Bruce, MS on September 15, 1949 to Gavin Glennard Cushman, Sr. and Helen Ruth Cushman. Gavin was raised in the small town of Houston, Mississippi and knew his wife, Cheryl, since grade school. After high school, Gavin went on to serve in the Air Force and later graduate from Mississippi State University. Gavin and Cheryl were married in 1969 and lived in various places in the United States while raising their six children and later lived abroad. In his last working years, Gavin spent time in Iraq with the State Department. Gavin has served on the board at churches he has attended with the most recent being Cornerstone Church in Southaven, MS, where he served as treasurer. After retiring in 2015, Gavin was able to spend more time doing what he loved including spending time with family, golf, tennis, traveling, and serving in the church. Gavin had a heart for Christ and a love for people that was a testament to his faith and his allowing God to use him in any capacity. Although Gavin felt his first ministry was to his wife and family, he had a heart for missions and those in need. Gavin was greatly loved and looked up to by many all over the world and will be tremendously missed. Gavin was preceded in death by his father, Gavin Glennard Cushman, Sr. and his mother, Helen Ruth Cushman. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cheryl Patch Cushman; six children, Matt Cushman and his wife, Lori, Ruth Potter and her husband, Jeff, Andrew Cushman and his wife, Carrie, Stephen Cushman and his wife, Layla, Mary Bryan and her husband, Chris, and Gavin Cushman III; 10 grandchildren, Ethan Potter, Peyton Potter, Emma Potter, Lauren Cushman, Parker Cushman, Annabelle Cushman, Wesley Cushman, River Bryan, Leona Cushman, and Holden Bryan; and two brothers, Jimmy Cushman and his wife, Joyce and Billy Scruggs and his wife, Adrienne. Visitation will be

4-6 p.m.
at Cornerstone Church, 5998 Elmore Road, Southaven, MS. The funeral service will be
Monday, August 8 at 11 a.m.
at the church with burial in DeSoto Memorial Gardens in Southaven.
