Flo Ann Harris, known affectionately as "Annie" to her loved ones, passed away in Nesbit surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in 1941 and lived a life full of love, kindness, and dedication.
Throughout her career, Flo Ann worked tirelessly as a Corrections Officer for the DeSoto County Sheriff's Department and also lent her talents to Northrup in Moorpark, CA. However, it was not just her professional accomplishments that defined her, but also the memories she created for those around her. She was a wonderful mother who did so much with so little, and a fantastic cook who could turn mere scraps into a feast for the masses. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her own family, as she was like a "Mama Bear" to the women incarcerated under her watch, earning their love and admiration.
In addition to her impressive work ethic, Flo Ann had a vibrant personality. She was very giving and always found joy in puttering around the house and yard. Her siblings knew her as a great sister who brought light and laughter wherever she went.
Outside of work, Flo Ann found solace in the simple pleasures of life. She loved gardening, tending to her flowers with care and spending time in nature, whether it be in the beautiful Ozark mountains with her sisters, or in the senic pacific northwest with her children and grandchildren. These hobbies reflected her nurturing spirit and appreciation for the world around her.
Flo Ann is preceded in death by her husband Walter Harris, daughters Cheri Clifford and Robin Ward, son Michael Harris, parents Martin and Viola (Choate) Childers, sister Norma Cooke, brother Bobby Childers. Ann is survived by daughter Diana Hooft, daughter Diane Peters, son Eric Hooft (Ginnava), son Steven Harris (Jackie), numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and two sisters Janet Taylor and Jean Laughter.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In honoring Flo Ann's memory, let us cherish the legacy of love and compassion she leaves behind. May she rest in peace knowing that she was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
