I was born on August 9, 1945, in Cascilla, Mississippi. My formative years were spent in Chicago, Illinois. At age 17, I joined the United States Airforce. I served honorably for 23 years, 7 months, and 12 days. In 1968, while stationed in Japan, I met and married my first wife Mitsue Miyazakie in Tokyo, Japan. To this union, one son was born (Peter).
After leaving the military, I pursued a brief career in law enforcement, radio broadcasting, and finally as a Technical Analyst for Baptist Memorial Hospital until retirement in 2008 due to health issues. I am preceded in death by both parents; four sisters: Bertha, Karl, Arvelia, Fannie Mae; and three brothers: Willie Lee, Lewis, and J.B.
Left to cherish my memories are my son Peter (Kenleen) and six of the most wonderful grandkids any man could ever wish for. They are my blessings in life.
I leave 12 (that is right 12) sisters: Bernice Conley, Patricia Brock, Mary L. Brock, Leola Gee (Charles), Louise Brown-Reynolds (Johnny), Estelle Martin, Very Gillard (George), Vada Hankins, Nancy Wilson (C.W.), Hattie M. Simmons (Wayne), Ellowee Alexander (Theotis), and Linda Jones (Pete); seven brothers: L.D. Conley (Cat), Sam Watson, James Ratliff, Charley Watson (Mary), David Watson Jr., Tommy Conley, and Ervin Taplin. (I do not believe in “Step” or “Half” siblings). I also leave one very special person: Ms. Mae Conley-Evans and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
