Dorothy O’Neal was born on December 6, 1928 in New York City. She spent the first 30 years of her life as a New York City girl.  She enjoyed times with her friends and family at “tar beach”, watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade from her father’s office building and enjoying lunches at the NY library. After graduating from business college, she worked as a corporate secretary at Air Reduction Sales Company, Inc. on 42

St. for 10 years in NYC.  Once she started her family they moved to the South, her husband Ralph’s birthplace.  She picked up new southern cooking styles from her mother-in-law “Ma”, which included her famous deviled eggs. She loved spending time with family, friends, and making lasting memories. One could never leave her house without a good meal, or at least a tootsie roll. Mrs. O’Neal was a faithful member of Southaven First United Methodist Church. Even when she could not make worship service, she would view one on television. She adored all animals, especially her dogs (Skippy, Max, Colonel). Her favorite time of the year was around the holidays. She loved being able to spend time with her family, to laugh and just have a good time. Dorothy was a wonderful mother and grandmother “My Momma”, and adored them all profoundly. Mrs. O’Neal truly will be missed by her family and friends.
