Dorothy Jane Webb Welker, 77, of Southaven, MS went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday evening October 29, 2021 surrounded by her two loving sons.
She was born in Brownsville, TN January 21, 1944 and was raised in Ripley, TN. A graduate of Ripley High School, Ripley, TN and attended Lambeth College in Jackson, TN where she met her future husband, Thomas Welker. Dorothy and Thomas were married August 30, 1964. Dorothy completed her College education in 1978 at Memphis State University and received her Bachelor of Education. She served the children of the Memphis City School System as a Special Education Teacher for over 30 years, spending 26 of them at Vance Junior High School where life long friendships were created with her coworkers.
Dorothy enjoyed her time during retirement making new friends after moving from Memphis to Southaven. She enjoyed her quiet time each morning, often spending it on her back porch. Her sons were the loves of her life and she never missed an opportunity to tell them how much she loved each of them. Dorothy will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas whom she was married to for 43 years; sister, Josephine Jones; brother, Aubrey D. Webb Jr.; parents Aubrey Sr. and Rebecca Webb.
She is survived by her two sons Christopher Welker (Judy) of Piperton, TN and Timothy Welker (Denise) of Somerville, TN: Sister Camille Graeler of Pittsburgh, PA: and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 290 Goodman Road East on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. A graveside service will begin at 10:00 a.m. November 4, 2021, at Memorial Park Cemetery on Poplar Ave. in Memphis.
