Debra Jane Newman

October 22, 1951 — October 27, 2018

Mrs. Debra Jane Newman, 67, of Southaven, MS passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto, located in Southaven. She was born October 22, 1951in Sledge, Mississippi to Larry Orrin Ward and Alma Etoile Alderman Ward. Mrs. Newman had a very spirited personality, almost that of a ‘hippie’. She was also making you laugh whether is was with her funny nature or her sarcastic ways. She enjoyed watching jeopardy, fishing at her favorite hidden spot in Coldwater, MS, and visiting the numerous natural trails in Wapanocca Nation Wildlife Rescue. Mrs. Newman adored her grandchildren and had a very special connection with her granddaughter, Nina. She had the most supportive friends anyone could ask for, and they were like teenagers whenever they were around each other. Every morning when she got out of bed, she would immediately pick up her phone and begin dialing her best friends. Mrs. Newman will be greatly missed by those she shared her life with.

Mrs. Newman leaves behind her daughter, Nichole Watson; mother, Alma Etoile Alderman Ward; three brothers, Dennis Ward, Mark Ward, and Matthew Ward; one sister, Susan Wilburn; three grandchildren, Lorelei Wood, Brooklyn Watson, and Nina Watson. Mrs. Newman also leaves behind a host of loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of thirty six years, Terry Newman; father, Larry Orrin Ward; and mother in law, Evie Newman.
