Dallas “Harold” McKinnon was born May 12, 1966 in Jackson, Mississippi. Harold passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2022 in Memphis, Tennessee after a valiant battle with cancer. Harold was the son of Dallas and Joyce (Ard) McKinnon. Harold spent his childhood years living in Escatawpa, Mississippi. During his high school years, Harold’s love for music, comics, the New Orleans Saints, WWF/WWE, and math strongly grew.
After high school, Harold decided to pursue a career in Mathematics with an emphasis on Statistics and a minor in Computer Science. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Mathematics.
On March 18, 1995, Harold met Angela Williams at Four Mile Creek Baptist Church, which was a match truly made from heaven. They married on July 13, 1996 at the very church where they met and fell in love. Together they cherished three fur babies, Layla, Murphy, Peanut, and many more before them, all of which were rescued by love.
Harold was a loyal servant to God, first and foremost, a great friend, and an amazing husband. Harold loved his church and was a member of LaBelle Haven Baptist Church in Olive Branch, Mississippi for 25 years. He loved the church and loved sharing the love and warmth of our savior, Jesus Christ, often in anonymous donations and charitable means. This is where he was able to utilize his musical talents and be a part of the music ministry as the drummer.
Harold was such an avid lover of Math, teaching at various places across Memphis and DeSoto County. However, his most treasured job was being a Math professor at Northwest Community College – DeSoto for over 10 years. He loved to build meaningful relationships with his students, with many of them staying in contact and some as most recently taking care of him during his battle with cancer.
Harold was a devoted husband to his wife Angela for 26 years. He is also survived by a very special friend who was like his little sister, Renee Hounsell of Appomattox, Virginia. He is also survived by two aunts, Evone Davenport of Richland, Mississippi, and Martha Jean McKinnon of Brandon, Mississippi, and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Joyce (Ard) McKinnon, grandparents JM and Virgie Ard, and Arthur and Callie Mae McKinnon.
