Bonnie Lea Stone

January 19, 1948 — April 9, 2023

Bonnie Lea Stone, 75, of Hernando, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and friends Sunday April 9, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Southaven, MS.

She was born on January 19th, 1948 in Fairfield, IA to the late Homer M. and Ysleta(Goodman) Sherman. She resided in Horn Lake, MS for the majority of her adult life where she raised her identical twin daughters and was a member of Horn Lake United Methodist Church. She was a stay at home mom for many years, but later also worked and retired from FedEx. She spent the last 4 years living at Wesley Meadows in Hernando, where she was very loved and cared for.

She was an avid fan of the Memphis Tigers and Dallas Cowboys. She loved animals, especially cats; and at one time ran an animal adoption program. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, crocheting, bowling, bingo and game shows. She was quite the trivia player and had a talent for sewing and typing.  She was also Tom Selleck’s biggest fan!   By far, her greatest accomplishment and the one she was most proud of was being a Mom to her twin girls and Nana to her two grandsons.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Jim Stone. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Michelle Stone and Crystal Shields (Robin), grandsons Carter and Everett Shields, and her twin sister, Connie Cheek of Marietta, GA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Twin Oaks Memorial Garden & Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 18th 2023 at 12:00 pm with service and burial to follow at 1:00 pm.
