Bobby Gerald Speck, a hard-working man, left this world on February 20, 2025, in Southaven, Mississippi, after a brief illness. Born on July 14, 1947, in the heart of Mississippi, Bobby’s life was a testament to the values he cherished: family, spirituality, and a profound connection to nature.
Throughout his life, Bobby was known for his dedication and love for the forest. He often sought solace in the embrace of nature, finding peace in its quiet beauty. Those who knew him best described him as a spiritual man, whose heart resonated deeply with the world around him.
His greatest pride was his family. Bobby is survived by his beloved children, Jerry Speck and Melissa Furnish, who fondly remember a father who instilled strong principles and an unwavering work ethic. He was not just a father; he was a guiding light and a source of unconditional love. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Nikki (Archie) Davis, Ailene Reeves, Casey Speck, Corey (Zack) McCammon, Daniel Speck, and Joshua (Holly) McCammon who will forever carry his wisdom and kindness in their hearts. The joyous laughter and boundless energy of his great-grandchildren, Gage Davis, Aubree McCammon, Ella Davis, Brantley McCammon, Trinity McCammon, Emree Brooks, and Sawyer Brooks, and Knox McCammon were a source of endless delight for him, highlighting the blessings of family that he so cherished. Also, to mourn his passing is his sister Brenda Mills Campbell.
In addition to his vibrant family, Bobby now joins his late spouse, Marlyn Speck, and his parents, Lydell and Mary Mills, together again in eternal peace. He also leaves behind the memory of his grandsons, James Speck and Joey McCammon, whose absence weighs heavy on the hearts of those who loved them both.
A visitation will be held in Bobby's honor at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven, MS, on February 24, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM, followed by a heartfelt funeral service at 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Bobby will be remembered, and celebrated as a devoted man whose life brought joy to those who had the privilege to know him. Commemoration of his life will continue at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens in Bartlett, TN, from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM on the same day.
As we reflect on Bobby’s life, we are reminded of the love he shared and the warmth he brought to all those around him. His spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of his family and friends, a gentle reminder to cherish the simple beauty of nature and the bonds of family that ground us.
