Beverly Irene Sexton — a faithful wife, mother, mentor, servant of Christ, and friend — ran into the arms of Jesus on
October 5, 2021. She was 71.
Born July 25, 1950, to Betty and George Kendrick in Pensacola, Florida, she lived her life as not only a servant to her family and friends, but most importantly to Christ. She loved fellowshipping around a table full of delicious food she had prepared. Cooking and caring for others was her passion. Nobody could quite make buttermilk biscuits or peach cobbler like Granny could. Beverly was a born-again Christian and was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Walls, MS for 22 years, and you could find her there every time the doors were open. Her and her husband Roy were College and Career Sunday School Directors for many years. She also served in the nursery department, choir, meal train ministry, taught Home Economics in Bethel Baptist School, and helped coordinate many events at her church. She was a faithful soulwinner, and her love for Christ shone brightly in everything she did.
Beverly married her husband Roy on July 11, 1972. They raised a godly family together for 49 years. Educated at Pensacola Technical High School, Midwestern Baptist College, and Tennessee Temple University, she was wise beyond her education, and people of all ages and stages of life sought her
advice, and benefited from her counsel. This was proven in the lives of her children, all three of whom are serving the Lord, and the many others whom she guided.
Beverly was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Kendrick, and her brother, David Scott Kendrick. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her adoring husband Roy Sexton; children Rebecca (Eddie) Barkfelt, David (Heather) Sexton, and Lee (Lydia) Sexton; father and step-mother, George and Marilyn Kendrick; three siblings, George (Marie) Kendrick II, Terry Kendrick, and Tina (Johnny) Green; grandchildren, Sarah Barkfelt, Madelyn, Julia, Brooke Sexton and Charys, Irelynn, Evan and Jace Sexton; one uncle; and several nieces and nephews.
Beverly’s Life Verse:
