Arnie Lavone “Pop” Massey

Arnie Lavone “Pop” Massey, 85, of Olive Branch, MS passed away at his home on Thursday, December 28, 2017. He was born on February 29, 1932 in Slate Springs, MS to the late Chester and Evelyn Massey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a graduate of MS State University. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a retired division land superintendent from the Texas Gas Corporation. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 2 from 2pm until the service begins at 3pm at Gracewood Baptist Church in Southaven. Burial will follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Southaven. Arnie was preceded in death by his daughter Angelia Massey Shumway. He is survived by his daughter, Gay Bynum of Olive Branch, son Tony Massey of Bartlett, two sisters, Barbara Holloway of Derma, Juanita Hamilton of Calhoun City, five grandchildren, Kris Shumway, Samantha Perepichay, Akisha Gordon, Chelsea Moore, Wesley Massey and 13 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gracewood Baptist Church.
